Artist's Description
June 4, 1942, 7:10 AM. B-26 Marauder bombers fitted with torpedoes attacking the Japanese fleet during the Battle of Midway. First Lieutenant James Muri piloting 'Susie-Q' released his torpedo from an altitude of 150 feet. In a last second decision in an attempt to avoid being hit by the heavy anti-aircraft fire, Muri turned and flew down the length of the flight deck of his target, the aircraft carrier Akagi, gunners strafing as they buzzed the deck at low level.

Wonderful! I just hope that one day i could see artworks with italian planes. S.79 in attack during Pedestal, Macchi 205 shooting down P-38 over Vesuvius, CR.32 of Cap. Fanali shooting down Pattle's Gladiator over Sidi Barrani, etc. :) Congratulations for your talent!

Just gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "pucker factor" doesn't it? Even though it got a bad reputation for being a dangerous airplane to fly at first (One a day in Tampa bay) it wound up having the lowest loss rate of any AAF bomber. Great piece of work.
